hey there!

I’m Beth Colucci Foppiano

How I went from burnt-out college athlete to Personal Trainer to helping Pregnant and Postpartum women have their strongest and smoothest pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences possible.

Take a walk down memory lane with me…

As a gymnast and track athlete growing up, I’ve always had an appreciation and love for how the human body works.

At Ithaca College, I studied Clinical Exercise Science with minors in Coaching and Nutrition Promotion and was a member of the Women’s Track and Field team.  Between physical classes and labs, weekly lifting sessions for track, 3-hour long practices, and meets, I got hurt ALL.THE.TIME.

By the end of junior year, I had had enough and sadly hung up my spikes.  While I was discouraged, this allowed me to focus more on learning proper personal training programming, rehabilitative movement, and various therapy methods.

While working in the faculty gym as a personal trainer, I made a connection with a client that would, at the time, unknowingly set the trajectory for my future.  This client, after struggling with infertility for quite some time, turned to exercise to improve her health.  After a few months of working together, she came in with tears in her eyes, announcing her pregnancy.  Needless to say, we cried together.  I still remember that day, and typing this, I have tears in my eyes. 😭😭😭😭

After graduation, I taught middle school science and math in Miami, Florida for two years as part of Teach For America. It was here I gained valuable teaching (and patience) skills.  After my stint in Florida, I moved back to New York and started working as a full-time Personal Trainer, and eventually General Manager of a private Personal Training studio.

Okay, so with all that, how did I get here, serving pregnant and postpartum women like you?

10 years after working with my first pregnant client, I noticed a trend in the personal training clients I was seeing – more and more pregnant and postpartum women were coming through the door.  I knew there had to be more to offer these women to improve their pregnancy and postpartum experiences.

So, in 2017 I took my first perinatal courses and fell IN LOVE with helping women build the physical and mental strength and resiliency needed for pregnancy and postpartum.  But, while working with moms like you, I noticed a lack of comprehensive childbirth education.  Once again I thought, “There has to be more I can do.”  Are you noticing a trend?  It won’t surprise you then that “Never Stop Learning” is one of my core values. 🤓

That’s when I realized I could combine my expertise in personal training, teaching, pre-and postnatal corrective exercise, and more to create a comprehensive program for expecting and new mothers.  In 2020 Birth Body Soul was born, and since I have added Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Breastfeeding Counselor courses to continue to serve amazing women like you.  I am so honored to be a part of such an incredible, powerful, and transformational period in mothers’ lives.

What’s Birth Body Soul all about?

Simply put – it’s Childbirth Education with a Fitness Twist.  Women like you deserve to feel validated, educated, supported, and strong on this wild ride we call motherhood.

Whether you’re pregnant and looking to stay active and learn how to have a great birth experience or a new mom looking to feel her best and get back into the gym safely, I’ve got you!
