Busting some prenatal fitness myths 🕵🏼‍♀️💥

Myth: it’s unsafe for pregnant women to start a new workout routine

Fact: You can absolutely start a new fitness routine!

Even if you have been completely inactive up to this point, with clearance from your provider, you can safely start mild to moderate exercise.  And it’s usually not about what you do, but how you do it, so I always recommend working with a qualified professional.  Starting slow and gradually building is the safest approach for your pregnancy.

Myth: pregnant women should avoid excising their core and/or weight-lifting

Fact: You should do both while pregnant!

I will die on this hill. ☠️ Just like starting a new fitness routine, it’s not about what you do, but how you do it.  Strengthening your core is vital to proper posture, keeping your baby in an optimal position, reducing pain, and more.  Weight training does all this plus some, building the strength needed to handle the demands of pregnancy and motherhood.

Exercise during pregnancy benefits both you and your unborn baby, improving their brain development, blood sugar levels, stress response, immune function, and more! 💪🏼🤗
